It’s always a good practice to go to the grocery store armed with several coupons. But not everyone is made for coupon cutting. Maybe you don’t get the Sunday paper. Maybe the only coupons available are for products you don’t use. But you can save money on food at the grocery store without the use of coupons. Here are a few ways you can do that.
Many grocery stores offer loyalty cards. These programs are free to join and entitle you to their lowest prices. You can also earn points for every dollar you spend which can be redeemed for discounts later.
Save big money when you buy generic brands instead of the well known ones. For some products, there is literally zero difference. So if you buy the more expensive well known brand, all you are paying extra for is the fancy box.
Know the prices
Keep a lookout during checkout that the prices you’re being charged are actually what you thought each item was going to cost. Mistakes happen and will rarely go in your favor, so know what everything costs before you check out.
Only buy food
The grocery store is a great place to find a good deal on fruits, vegetables and other food items. But it’s not the best type of place to buy anything else. For a good deal on anything non-food related go to Walmart or Target, as they sell those same items much cheaper.
